Minister of Foreign Affairs, George Gerapetritis, will travel to New York from September 18th to 23rd in order to participate in the High-Level Week of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The Minister’s priority is to promote Greece’s candidacy as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the 2025-2026 term and to convey the positions of Greek foreign policy.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs’ schedule includes high-level meetings, bilateral and multilateral contacts with Foreign Ministers from Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Latin America, as well as meetings with high-level officials of the UN, the EU and regional organizations.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs will attend trilateral meetings between Greece and Cyprus, with Israel, Egypt and Jordan. A quadrilateral meeting will also be held among the Foreign Ministers of Greece, Bulgaria, Romania and Croatia.
In addition, Mr Gerapetritis will participate in high-level talks on Euro-Atlantic cooperation, the war in Ukraine and peace in the Middle East. He will also attend a Transatlantic Dinner hosted by US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken.
During his stay in New York, the Minister of Foreign Affairs will meet with representatives of the Greek diaspora. He will also have contacts with the leadership of American Jewish organizations.
