EUNAVFOR ASPIDES: Operational Commander’s visit to Djibouti
On 13 and 14 March 2024, the Commander of EUNAVFOR ASPIDES Rear Admiral Vasileios
Gryparis visited Djibouti, where he had fruitful discussions with political authorities. Present at these meetings was the Head of EU Delegation to Djibouti, Ambassador Sylvie Tabesse.
This visit was an excellent opportunity to exchange views on the regional security environment and identify opportunities for future cooperation.
EUNAVFOR ASPIDES has a defensive mandate, to protect shipping targeted by attacks at sea or air.
Any response will always come as a consequence of an attack and be necessary, proportionate and limited to international sea or air-space.
