Statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the situation in Syria (10.03.2025)

Athens, 10 March 2025

As the situation unfolds in Syria, we condemn the atrocities inflicted on innocent civilians, including Christians and Alawites.

We expect the interim authorities to take all necessary measures to stop the violence, protect all civilians, bring to justice the perpetrators of the atrocities and live up to the expectations of all Syrians without discrimination.

Greece is steadfastly committed to helping Syria’s recovery and prosperity and building strong and representative institutions, which would integrate all Syrians and ensure that ethnic and religious communities including Christians, Alawites, Druze and Kurds are fully included in the political process and can live without fear.

Greece closely monitors the situation in Syria and welcomes steps towards de-escalation and national reconciliation.
